WHY SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT HEALED Part 1!

Does God want us healed? Absolutely yes!

If God wants all men to be saved then He wants all men to be healed, there’s no point arguing about it, if this is so you may ask, why are there so many people who are not well around? Well one way of looking at it is to ask, if God wants all men to be saved, why are there so many people around who are not saved? Well you know the answers, there are many reasons why some people are not saved or healed but none of those reasons point to God, they are all on the human side, the will of God is clear, He wants all men to be saved, healed and delivered, this is the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In this study I want to examine a few reasons why some are not saved or healed, in a general sense it is possible to identify why this is so from the word of God but we would need specific revelation in specific cases to say this is why so and so was not healed.

Let’s examine a few of them

  • They do not believe the word of God or in the anointed of the Lord

This is a simple one, unbelief will cut you off from the flow of God’s power faster than anything else.

Jesus came into his own hometown and there he could do no mighty work, why? Because of the unbelief of the people.

And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands on a few sick folks and healed them. And he marvelled at their unbelief.

And he went about their cities and villages teaching and preaching the word of God. (Mark6:5-6)

The people’s unbelief meant that they could not experience the benefit of God’s power at work in and through Jesus, Jesus was as anointed in his home town as he was anywhere else but the people were so familiar with him that they just could not see him as anything other than the son of Joseph ( as they supposed)and Mary, the same thing happens today,  I’ve discovered that the people around you are always the least impressed about the anointing on your life, particularly if they have known you all your life!

If faith releases the anointing or causes it to come into manifestation, then unbelief will hinder it from coming into manifestation. I believe this was one reason why Jesus always took time to put some space between him and certain kinds of people.

Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly. When He came in, He said to them, “Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping.”

And they ridiculed Him. But WHEN HE HAD PUT THEM ALL OUTSIDE, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those who were with Him, and entered where the child was lying. Then He took the child by the hand, and said to her, “Talitha, cumi,” which is translated, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.”  Immediately the girl arose and walked, for she was twelve years of age. And they were overcome with great amazement.  But He commanded them strictly that no one should know it, and said that something should be given her to eat.

Mark 5:38-43

Jesus knew he had to get rid of the faith and anointing ‘blockers’ to get a result in that place, we don’t know more about these things than Jesus, He is our example in how to get the anointing to work!

It is not only important to believe the word of God, but you must also believe that God’s servant is anointed to help you, this was why Jesus took time to announce his ‘manifesto’ in Luke 4 :18

He needed to get the people to believe in him. In 1 Chronicles 20 :20

God says ‘believe in the Lord your God and you will be established, believe in his prophets and you will prosper, prosper in this instance would mean getting the benefit of your faith.

I want to establish a point, faith and unbelief are choices we make in response to the truth available to us, unbelief is a refusal to believe, to accept or be wholly convinced of a truth so much so that you are unwilling to rely completely on it and use it as the basis of your life decisions, faith or belief is exactly the opposite, we are fully persuaded or convinced about the truth available to us so much so that we live by decisions based on this conviction.

If unbelief or faith were outside our power that we cannot be responsible for either but no! God expects us to choose to believe based on the integrity of his word to us

‘So then faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God’ Romans 10:17

One reason why some people find it hard to believe is that they don’t have an understanding of biblical faith, they want to see or experience first before they believe, but bible faith is the substance of things hoped for and the very evidence of things NOT SEEN.

It will be good to bear this in mind, faith always works just as unbelief too always works

  • People place their faith in their feelings and not in God or His word

Have you heard the expression ‘seeing is believing’? I am sure you have, it sums up the way the average person considers faith, you remember that Thomas whom we often refer to as doubting Thomas expressed the same sentiment.

Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”

John 20: 24-27 NKJV

The challenge is that this kind of ‘faith’ is based on feelings and experiences and not on the word of God, sometimes people are prayed for over a condition or situation, they say with their lips ‘I believe’ but inwardly they are assessing their situation by the absence or presence of symptoms or conditions, you ask them after prayer ‘do you believe God has healed you and they reply ‘yes I do, you ask why do you say so? O! I feel much better, they say, that’s good, but the danger is that of placing your faith in your condition, so that if after prayer they don’t seem to feel or look better, they say ‘God has not healed me’ No! No! We are healed by the stripes of Jesus, this is the basis of our faith and confidence, let the feelings follow after.

All healing is progressive, whether over a few days, minutes or seconds and we can prove that by the word of God.

People who base their faith on how they feel and not on what God has said will always have a tough time in their walk with the Lord, the devil will always manipulate feelings and conditions to work against them, remember he is the god of this world.

Abraham is a powerful reminder of the power of basing our faith on God and His word.

Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all (as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed — God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;  who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”  And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform. And therefore “it was accounted to him for righteousness

Rom 4:16-22 NKJV

It must have been tough for Abraham, time, age and human experience told him all hope was lost but God’s word said to him, ‘you will have an heir’. This was his fight of faith, a fight to maintain the integrity of God’s word to him, sometimes we need to fight that fight, it is the one that we are called to engage in. Once my wife and I prayed a prayer of agreement over a financial need, we agreed for a specific sum of money, over three weeks we waited and trusted God, for sure I had no idea where the money would come from, but God knew, three weeks after we prayed in agreement, a family friend came visiting, unfortunately it was raining heavily , this friend backed up to the gate stuck out his hand and handed me an envelope, turned round and drove off, never came out of the car. It was exactly the sum we had prayed for and waited for about three weeks to receive.

God is faithful and His word is true, those who choose to believe His word will not be ashamed.

I prophesy to you as you hold on to God’s word for healing, deliverance or whatever you are trusting the Lord for, you will not be ashamed! The word of God will bring forth a rich harvest of wholeness in your life in the name of Jesus!

  • Ignorance

Some people are largely ignorant of God’s provision for their healing and blessing and also about the nature of that provision. Ignorance is very deadly, it kills, God said ‘my people perish for lack of knowledge’ sometimes people know that God healed yesterday but wonder if he still does so today, they say well ‘, I’ve never seen anybody get healed, well seeing someone get healed certainly will help your faith, but God does not heal because you have seen someone get healed, He heals because His word reveals him as a healing God and that Jesus still heals today, if I had never seen someone healed I’ll still believe that God does heal, in fact I’ll be asking why are we not seeing more and more healings today!

I used to belong to a church who believed that healing was not as important as ‘salvation’, that is being born again, and that it was something that God did but on the scale of things was not too important. In terms of eternity and heaven is concerned, that will be true but also very true is understanding that the word salvation is more than just one thing, it is an all encompassing word that includes the redemptive processes and its benefit for mankind, this will include healing, being born again, deliverance, prosperity etc

Salvation is God’s provision for man’s deepest needs, in one of my teachings I mentioned that the gospel is God’s cure for the fall and its effects on man and also that healing is an expression of God’s nature. To be ignorant of these truths means not being able to access by faith the provision and supply of God’s healing grace.

Jesus said to the woman at the well of Samaria

If you knew the gift of God and he through whom it comes, all you would have needed to do was to ask and you would received living waters. (John 4:10 paraphrased)

You cannot act in faith without knowledge, to do so would be presumptuous, fickle and certain failure, Kenneth E Hagin once said ‘faith begins where the will of God is known’

The gospel of Jesus is the healing balm of God for the curing of a sin and disease ridden world. All that Jesus did in his earthly ministry culminating in his death, burial and resurrection is the salvation of the Lord, it is God’s gift to humanity, a gift to be received by faith, but there can be no faith without knowledge.

This is partly why Jesus taught and preached, people came to him to hear and be healed, this is why Jesus sends out teachers and preachers of the word, this is why we need to be on every available medium broadcasting this message of faith, hope and love.

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard and how shall they hear without a preacher and how shall they preach except they be sent? Romans 10: 13-15

I believe that the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ must include at least these four things.

  • Salvation from sin; its power, guilt, nature and consequences
  • Salvation from sickness and diseases
  • Salvation from demonic harassment and bondage
  • Salvation from poverty and lack

This is the full gospel, any preaching of the gospel that does not encompass these four elements is incomplete and is diminishing the work of the cross and the resurrection.

To be Contd.
