• Some people are waiting for God to do something while God is waiting for them to do something.

Somebody said something very interesting; he said the Acts of the Apostles was written because the apostles acted! If they had not acted there would have been no Acts of the Apostles, if they had spent all their time praying, nothing would have happened, there was a time to pray and a time to act.

How does this concern healing? To say, God sees what I am going through, if he wants to he can heal me, may sound spiritual but it is based on ignorance.

God has made an eternal deposit of salvation for every person on the earth now and indeed for all eternity.

Read this!

For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

God gave Jesus just once and from that time till now as people have acted on this truth or deposit they have been saved, healed, delivered etc

The woman with the issue of blood did not wait for Jesus to come to her, once she had information about Him she acted in faith, she went to him  and was healed.

Some years ago, I was holding a meeting in a Church in Lagos Nigeria, after ministering to the people, it was testimony time, there was this sister who was crying as she shared how she was healed from a terrible migraine. Her story moved me because it perfectly illustrated this point, according to her, she had been having terrible migraine headache on the day of the meeting, in fact she felt so sick that she contemplated on not coming for the service, but she said to herself, it’s a healing service, if I don’t come how do I get healed? She came and was healed, many would have stayed back because they were too sick to come to a healing service!

Extending it a bit further the young man who was let down from the roof could have turned back because of the inconvenience of trying to reach where Jesus was. There is a big problem in the developed world, the advances in medical science have become a stumbling block for so many people in that they having all these wonderful alternatives never develop the hunger, desire and faith to reach out to Jesus and press for their healing. Medical science is wonderful and very very helpful but unfortunately also very limited at times in dealing with the complicated health situation of the modern man.

God wants us to reach out for healing, eternal life, deliverance etc it pleases him when we do so, true faith takes, it presses in and will not be denied.

Stop waiting for God, He is waiting for you, get into the word, meditate on it, take it in your mouth and confess it. Find men and women who believe in and teach on the power and love of our God, get them to minister to you, keep going till you get it.

The secret things belong to God BUT the things that are revealed belong to you and your children (Deut. 29:29) TAKE THEM!

The preaching of the word of God in any form is God’s personal invitation to you to act. WILL YOU?

5) Unrepented sin

The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life

Ps 107:17-20

Fools, because of their transgression,

And because of their iniquities, were afflicted.

 Their soul abhorred all manner of food,

And they drew near to the gates of death.

 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,

And He saved them out of their distresses.

 He sent His word and healed them,

And delivered them from their destructions.

Death is the sum total of all the consequences of the life separated from the presence of God, the word of God indicates that personal or at times generational sin can be an entry point for a direct affliction.

After healing a man who had been paralyzed for 35 years in John 5:14, we read ‘Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

Often times Jesus offered forgiveness in place of healing but the immediate benefit was that the afflictions of the penitent were healed as they received God’s offer of mercy and forgiveness.

Refusal to repent of a known sin or attitude is rebellion and if it is the cause of an affliction it will provide the ground for the continuation of the condition that was brought on by the sinful action or attitude. This is a matter of choice, an easy way to explain this would be to say that if an individual is suffering from an ailment brought on say by smoking for example, it will be foolhardy to expect any relief except the precipitating condition is stopped; this is true physically as well as spiritually.

In 1 Corinthians 11, the Apostle Paul spoke about the  sinful attitude of the Church in relation to the Lord’s body and he warned them saying because of this attitude many were weak, sickly and even died! (I Corinthians 11:30)

Many years ago, I was called to minister to a man who suddenly had become paralyzed, I went to visit with two friends, as we entered into the sitting room where the man was in a wheelchair, I was led to ask, sir, I hope you did not visit the witch doctors and juju priests’ I know that for many people even ‘Christian’ people this was not an uncommon practice in their desperation for help and relief, yet God in His word warns us to have nothing to do with such people. So I asked, he replied ‘of course not, I am a Christian’ so we began to pray and as we did so I was drawn to the ledge over the doorway, I put my hand on the ledge and pulled out a juju charm wrapped up in some funny looking cloth, I said to the man and his wife ‘what is this? The woman said ‘Pastor! Are you not afraid of handling this thing? I was shocked, they showed no shame or remorse at been caught by the Holy Spirit in such a wicked act, they didn’t even seem concerned in the least about it. To cut a long story short I left with my friends, prayer was useless in such a situation, if the man got healed who will get the glory God or the juju? But as we left I told my friends this man will not live long, I just knew that by the Spirit, and just as I said a few months later I heard that the man was dead.

I believe the Lord would have healed him, but the man would not repent, neither would the Lord give His glory to another, talk less of graven images!

6) They don’t know how to put their faith to work

Have you heard of unbelieving believers? There is an epidemic of them today in the Church, believers who don’t know how to put their faith to work.

When I became a believer in Christ Jesus, I learnt by the study of the word of God that it was very possible to have believed on Jesus for salvation from sin and yet not know how to appropriate some of the benefits of that salvation by faith.

I learnt that the God who created the natural world and the laws that govern them also created the spiritual world and that there were laws or principles that governed their operations, with faith been one of them.

I also learned and am still learning that no man had a mastery of these laws and principles like Jesus did and that in his teachings particularly and generally in the whole scriptures were a revelation of these laws and principles.

I learnt also that these laws would work for anyone who learnt them and learnt how to put them to work in their lives.

Faith is a LAW of the spirit and works according to the principles revealed in the word of God, every time we study the mighty works of faith in the lives of God’s people throughout scriptures we can isolate these same principles.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith.

Rom 3:27 NKJV

What is the law or principle of faith?

This is the principle of faith

 But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:8-10

We believe with our heart and confess with our mouth, that is how faith works.

Paul the Apostle put it like this

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak,

2 Cor 4:13-14

Faith is put to work by first believing what God has revealed about the situation and by confessing with the mouth in line with what we have believed, this is how we were born again, this is how we receive healing.

I discovered that many Christians had no idea how faith worked and they were using their faith against themselves, how you may ask? By believing all the lies of the devil and by confessing those lies in their lives.

Study the great men and women of exploits in the bible; Abraham, Moses, David, Mary, Sarah Paul etc you will discover this one thing, they knew how to put their faith to work.

Some believers say, I don’t have faith, for say healing, that may be so but it is only because they have not taken advantage of the means for faith, which is God’s word on healing, find out what God has said and BELIEVE IT, read and meditate on it then decide to BELIEVE IT, then begin to CONFESS IT.  God is not a man that will lie. There is a difference between faith and believing, believing is a part of the faith process but faith is seen when you BELIEVE + CONFESS ( ACT ON) WHAT YOU BELIEVE.

Many Christians get the believing part right but not the confessing part, instead of confessing what they believe, they confess what they feel or see.

The Child of God was designed to walk by faith in as much the same way as the natural man was designed to breathe air or use his legs, in fact that capacity is inbuilt into man, the natural man exercises it outside God but it is the same capacity or ability available to the child of God.

Why are some people not healed! There may be many more reasons but to my mind these are six of the major reasons why this happens.
