Can we overcome the spirits of infirmity? Can we resist Satan attempts to afflict us with seemingly incurable diseases? Yes we can! It is God’s will that we be free from sickness disease and all that Satan brings.

If you are going to overcome the devil and all the spirits of infirmity and what they are trying to push off on you, you must understand the place of your faith, your absolute confidence in God’s word.

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.                                                                          

1 John 5:4-5

Faith is the key to victory; you must mix what you read here with your faith in order for it to deliver great deliverance to you.

Look at this

For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

Heb 4:2-3

 I need to repeat here that an essential part of faith is believing right, many times the word faith and belief are used synonymously but in biblical terms there is an essential distinction, faith is the product of believing, believing is of the heart, it is invisible, the action that emanate from believing are visible, all together when we act on what we believe we are exercising faith.

Now listen, Jesus said in his word, ‘behold, I give you power over all unclean spirits’ that will necessarily include spirits that cause sickness and disease, we have authority over them to cast them out

All sickness indirectly is of the devil because they came into being through the fall, no wonder God tells us

 How God anointed Jesus Christ of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil’

Acts 10:38

There it is in black and white, God calls sickness, all sickness an oppression of the devil. However we can see from the experiences of people in the bible that sometimes sickness and diseases can be directly caused by the presence of an unclean spirit attaching itself to the body of an individual.

Like the case of the woman in Luke 13:11

This is still happening today all over the world, but we have the power through the name of Jesus to break the back of the spirit of infirmity in our lives and the lives of those around us. Amen!

Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.

Luke 9:1-3

God does not want us to accept what he has not given us; sickness is NOT from God, no not at all!

So what must we do to overcome the spirit of infirmity

Resist Satan

In James 4:7 we are told,

So then submit yourselves to God, Resist the devil and he will run away from you

 This is the recipe, look, sickness is the devil in action, when you resist sickness you are resisting the devil and when you resist the devil then you should resist sickness.

You have a part to play in seeing the back of sickness in your life, thank God for the many anointed men and women through whom He is working today, but when the crunch get to the crunch, you have to resist the devil for yourself and receive the healing that Jesus has made available for you.

But look at this, before we resist Satan, we must first submit to God, how can we do this in practical terms? this will include accepting Christ into your life as your Lord, if you haven’t done that, but that is not all it means, in a further sense you submit to God when you submit to this word, when His word has first place in your life, when you hide his word in your heart, because the authority to resist Satan flows from your submission to His word.

There are many who still argue against divine healing, that is not submission to the word, in healing terms when you embrace the word of healing, that diseases are overcome and healing comes by the stripes of Jesus, you are submitting to Jehovah Rapha the Lord your healer.

When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:

“He Himself took our infirmities

And bore our sicknesses.” 

Matt 8:16-17

When you take the healing word in your mouth and begin to boldly declare healing to your body, declaring that the power of infirmity in your body is broken, that the devil of cancer leaves your body and every cancer cell is cured, you are resisting Satan.

Too many times as Christians we don’t recognize our personal responsibility in these matters, somebody will say, ‘ah Pastor I tried it but it didn’t work’ don’t try it, do it.

I say this usually when I preach, if Satan could not stop you from being saved from sin when you gave your life to Jesus, then he can’t stop you from being saved from sickness, salvation from sin and sickness came in the same package and we receive both by faith.

who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness — by whose stripes you were healed.

1 Peter 2:24

I remember some years ago I was praying for a friend of mine who was suffering from excruciating pains during her monthly circle, the pains were so painful that in those three or four days she would be literally crippled. I laid hands on her as I would normally do for her healing and asked her if she was relieved, she said no, so I was about to pray again, when the Holy Spirit said to me, ‘there is an unclean spirit attached to her abdomen, cast it out’

So I commanded the spirit to leave in the name of Jesus and my friend said she felt something leave her and the pain disappeared. Glory to God!

Are you plagued by a seemingly incurable disease? Personally I believe that ‘incurable’ diseases are sustained by the presence and activity of unclean spirits,  you can take authority over the devil giving life to that disease, command him to leave, then begin to speak healing words to your body, command that body to become whole, it is your body, God’s temple and He wants to be glorified in it.
