What is the Apostolic Center?

The Apostolic Center is a multipurpose, teaching and equipping center patterned after the example of Jesus Christ who gathered people around him (and called them disciples). His purpose was that he might communicate the understanding of the kingdom, teach them his ways and send them forth to continue his ministry of teaching and equipping those who would believe on him after he left.

The Apostolic Center is not just a physical place or location, it is a concept, an idea that Jesus initiated while he was here.

And He went up on the mountain and called to Him those He Himself wanted. And they came to Him. Then He appointed twelve, that they might be with Him and that He might send them out to preach, and to have the power to heal sicknesses and to cast out demons:

Mark 3:13-16

In other words, these men and women were to be an extension of the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus,

Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him;

He has put Him to grief.

When You make His soul an offering for sin,

He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days,

And the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand.

Isa 53:10

There are numerous examples in the gospels that emphasize this point but consider just this

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matt 28:19-20

Read the instructions of Jesus again to the first disciples, the only people who knew him bodily, who had the closes opportunity to understand his mind and purposes.

He said go and make disciples of all nations, did you see that he was asking them to do with others what he had done with them? He made them disciples, now he was asking them to do the same for all nations.

Now you understand what Paul said to Timothy

You, therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also

2 Tim 2:1-2

Now just so that the disciples may be clear as to how to go about this, he tells them

  1. Make disciples,
  2. Baptize people
  3. Teach them to observe or keep everything I have instructed you
  4. You will not be alone

And in order to emphasize how long this would last, he said, ‘till the end of this age’ meaning the age of the Church dispensation.

So it is clear that Jesus had in mind that the apostles would do what Paul commanded Timothy to do.

They were to teach only what he taught them, not what they felt or any kind of ‘revelation’ they picked up for themselves.

The question is, has the Church stuck to this pattern or not?

What has been the result of our inability to build according to the pattern that the Lord laid down before he went to glory?

How can we correct this?

This is what the apostolic center is designed to correct by the grace of God

To build up a community of faithful people grounded in the teachings of the Lord Jesus, equipped by the Spirit and word and committed to following Jesus in spirit and truth wherever they may be.

Just like Jesus taught and equipped his disciples to be and do as he was and did, so believers today must begin to learn to follow the  Lord in such a way that they can be taught the things that truly matter, the things that will enable them to indeed rise and shine in the darkness that is rising over the earth.

I believe for these kinds of communities or fellowships springing up all over the world, faithful men teaching others, and doing the works of Jesus Christ. Kingdom-minded citizens, sons of the last Adam bringing glory to God through Jesus Christ.
