Jesus said

Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.   For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Matt 18:18-20

We need to examine these scriptures very carefully. Was Jesus telling his disciples that they had the authority and responsibility to act as heavens enforcers? That is to determine what was allowable on earth and what was not?

Many times, we read these scriptures and simply go on to other things, but in the light of the things that are happening on the earth today, we need to ask, do we really have the authority to determine what happens on the earth? What will happen if we do not take these words of Jesus as seriously as we should?

Let’s look at these scriptures again from the Amplified bible and see what these scriptures are really saying.

Truly I tell you, whatever you forbid and declare to be improper and unlawful on earth must be what is already forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit and declare proper and lawful on earth must be what is already permitted in heaven.

 Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.

For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. [E

Matt 18:18-20

The amplified bible really brings out the intended meaning of these words of Jesus, and that is the believer has the authority and responsibility to determine what heaven has declared unlawful and improper and enforce the same here on earth and also to do the converse, to find out what heaven declares lawful and permit them here on the earth.

This is an expanding revelation of the authority of the believer.

Jesus came here on earth as heaven’s ambassador and he becomes the revelator of what heaven’s mind and purpose is. Look at this

Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.  For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does; and He will show Him greater works than these, that you may marvel.

John 5:19-20

Jesus had only one agenda; and that was to restrain what heaven restrains and to permit what heaven permits. What does heaven restrain?

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.  But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matt 9:35-38

Sickness, diseases, satanic oppression are clear examples of what Jesus waged war against, heaven has no tolerance for every work of the devil and Jesus went out on an all-out war against them.

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Acts 10:38-39

These words of Jesus throw a serious light on the weakness of the Church and her response to the pandemic as well as other socio-political events going on all around us. We cannot afford to cower in fear and terror, Jesus wants us to wake up to our responsibility!

Now you see why the words of Jesus in his prayer instruction are very important

Thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The will of God will not happen on earth automatically, it will only happen when believers understand that we just like the Lord did, have the responsibility to determine the will of God and enforce it.

We have the authority to do this, Jesus said

“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.  Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Matt 28:18-20

We have his name, His Spirit and His word.

Time to take action

Some years ago, I was just a young believer and had gotten hold of the authority of the name of Jesus, we had an outbreak of chicken pox in our neighborhood. It seemed that almost every house on our street had a case of the pox and the cases were getting closer and closer to our home.

One evening I went outside into the compound and made a declaration, I said ‘this chicken pox will not come into this house, it will go over us and continue on its way but it will have no place here’ I said these words with ‘fear and trembling’ but God backed up my words.

Sure enough, the pox had no landing place in our home, it sort of skipped over and went on its way, that was an eye opener for me.

I believe we have authority over our households, communities and countries and we need to begin to take the responsibility for them.

Jesus gives us insight how to do this

Again I tell you, if two of you on earth agree (harmonize together, make a symphony together) about whatever [anything and everything] they may ask, it will come to pass and be done for them by My Father in heaven.

For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. [E

Prayer and prophetic declarations of groups of believers are the way to go.

There are two levels of engagement we can undertake here

Firstly, I advocate that little groups of believers can begin to meet in homes and local centers and begin to pray and take a stand against the onslaught of evil in our communities.

The pandemic is more than a public health emergency, it is also a satanic invasion from hell, believers need to stand against it and against whatever is back of it.

We may not know every detail about what is going on but the Lord knows and as we pray He will intervene and upturn and bring all the counsel of the enemy to naught.

There is another thing that the Lord shows us we can do

Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.   Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

You are the answer to the prayers of the Lord Jesus

We can begin to pray for people who are afflicted with the virus. Jesus still heals the sick and has mandated us to do what he did, and that is minister to the sick.

The Church has a template on how to deal with the issues of evil in our land, we just have to follow it.

By following these two protocols we deal with the root of the evil and its fruit.

If the Church does nothing, the whole land will be swallowed up in darkness.
